Salience Index measures whether businesses get named when people ask AI. When someone asks ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, Claude or Google AI Overviews what to buy or who to trust, a handful of brands get named and the rest do not exist. We measure who gets named, publish exactly how we measured it, and fix what we find for clients who want that.
We are an independent publication and measurement practice, founded in August 2026, built in India by Neha Berwal.
Why this exists
Almost everything published about AI visibility is written by someone selling AI visibility. Rankings of providers are authored by providers on the list. Case studies are self-reported. Striking numbers travel without sources. A business trying to understand this market has almost nowhere independent to stand.
We are not a neutral party either, and we do not pretend to be. We sell audits and programs. The difference is that our research is built so you do not have to trust us.
How the research stays honest
Every study we publish works the same way. The methodology is public before the findings are. Prompt sets are published in full, so anyone can re-run them. Every prompt runs multiple times, because the same question returns different answers on different days, and we report the range instead of the best screenshot. Study designs are pre-registered before full data collection begins. Data ships under CC BY 4.0, free to reuse with attribution. And every material claim carries a provenance label, Verified, Claimed, or Inferred, so you always know whether a number is a primary source, a vendor's word, or our reading of the evidence.
If we get something wrong, tell us. Corrections go to [email protected] and are applied with a note.
What we sell
Three things, in increasing depth: a free AI Report Card that grades whether AI can open, read and understand your site; a one-time Visibility Audit that measures whether the engines name you, who they name instead, and what to fix first; and a Visibility Program where we do the fixes and prove the change. Details and current status are on the homepage.
Who is behind it
Neha Berwal founded Salience Index and builds its measurement platform. Every number this site publishes runs on infrastructure she wrote: the scan runner, the checker, the answer archive. The methodology is public so the work can be judged on its measurements, not on who made them.
